Riya has been able to see "ghosts" and other spiritual abnormalities her whole life - be they manifestations of residual aether or conscious entities. As she noticed these spirits, they noticed her, and she quickly fell into Spirit Work and Necromancy. She moved to Gridania from Sharlayan in order to practice her trade (though largely in secret, and separate from her work with the Conjurer's guild). Conjury and Necromancy are two ends of a spectrum, and she slides along it with ease.She firmly believes in the sanctity of life and dedicates herself to various healing practices (Conjury as well as Ishgardian Chirurgy), and will fulfill the last wishes of whoever she's autopsying to help them find peace. She occasionally works as a Medical Examiner for the Grand Companies. Her skills are niche and her more fringe abilities often shunned, but the few who require her services will know where to find her.
